DreamWorks Animation studio intends to carry out another large-scale reduction of its staff. It is reported by the LA Times. The exact number of employees who will receive notice of termination has not yet been announced, but it is expected to be no less than in 2014, when more than 350 people lost their jobs.

In total, the company employs about 2,000 people, and the latest reduction will affect not only art illustrators, but also animators.

Recall that over the past couple of years, the studio has gone through hard times. Her movie projects, such as Keepers of Dreams, The Adventures of Mr. Peabody and Sherman, and others, showed very mediocre results at the box office. Slightly better was the situation with the last at the time of this writing of the studio's cartoon - "The Penguins of Madagascar". The project, with a budget of $ 132 million, earned only 80.7 million in its homeland, and international rental provided it with another 200 million.

In 2014, the company reported losses of $ 46.4 million, while a year earlier it had a profit of $ 37.9 million. Also last year DreamWorks Animation was forced to cut several hundred employees for the first time in its history.
